About the Race
Proceeds from the Once and Done Turnpike Run View the Turnpike Run commercialwill help benefit the five Boys & Girls Clubs in Central Pennsylvania and 16 other Pennsylvania Area Council Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the state. Through its 80 clubhouses in PA, Boys & Girls Clubs welcome 115,000 youth every day to their safe havens, during the vulnerable after school and
summer hours. Their supportive environments make each clubhouse The Positive Place for Kids, where youth development professionals use a broad range of programs to guide and inspire the youth to develop the attitudes and life skills they need to achieve their maximum potential.

Be a part of the Once & Done Turnpike Run and you'll be a part of history. As a participant in this race, you will be one of the first to step foot on one of the new Susquehanna River Bridges before they officially open to traffic.

And amazing structures they are! Sixteen million pounds of steel. Enough to build a 150-foot section of a Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier. Sixty-five thousand cubic yards of concrete. Enough to pave a four-foot wide sidewalk from Harrisburg to Ohio. One million man-hours. Enough to build 15 floors of the Empire State Building.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Pennsylvania – along with Clubs throughout the state – have teamed up with the PA Turnpike Commission to offer this innovative race. As a participant, you'll receive a commemorative t-shirt and goodie items to remember that you were one step ahead of the traffic to travel on these state-of-the-art bridges!
